Letter to Senior Parents
September 14, 2015
This is an exciting year in the life of your senior and there are several traditions here at CCS that add to that excitement. The success of these traditions is mainly due to the commitment, support, and participation of our senior parents. There are many things occurring this year of which we know you would like to be informed, therefore we’ve compiled this letter to keep everyone in the loop!
First, you received information in May regarding Senior Pictures. The deadline for turning in senior photos is October 16th. They must be in color, vertical, and from the waist up. If a senior photo is not turned in by the deadline, the photo taken on school picture day will be used in the yearbook. Also, please be encouraged to purchase a special Yearbook Ad for your Senior. If you have any questions about either of those two things please email Cyndi Totten.
Secondly, approaching quickly is our traditional senior Thanksgiving Feast. This meal is completely organized from set-up to clean-up by the parents. The date for our feast will be Tuesday, November 24th during lunch. All senior parents will be asked to provide a dish. This really is a fun and memorable day with lots of photo ops! Please mark your calendar now and if you can help with this please email April Gottula. More details will be forthcoming.
Don’t forget to order your student's yearbook! Go online to purchase a yearbook for your student’s senior year: Yearbookforever.com, enter Cincinnati Christian Schools in the box, then choose our school from the list and purchase your senior’s book there.
Before you blink, senior trip and graduation will be here! The dates for senior trip will be May 20th - 26th in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We have taken the last several senior classes to this beach and the memories made as the kids spend their last few CCS days together are priceless. We are encouraging each senior and hoping for 100% participation! Students making the commitment to go on senior trip will need to pay a non-refundable $100.00 deposit by Friday, October 23th. The cost for the trip is based on how many students participate. Subsequent $100 payments will be due by November 20th, January 22th, February 26th, with the final balance due March 18th. We will make every effort to minimize the cost of this trip. The more students that go on the trip, the lower the cost, obviously. Payments to the bus company, hotel, and Busch Gardens make it necessary for us to mandate that students who make the initial down-payment be responsible for the entire cost of the trip. Regretfully, should a situation occur that leaves them unable to participate, no refunds will be given, and the cost of the trip must be paid in full.
Senior Week will be May 16th - 20th, just before senior trip. Again, senior week is a parent sponsored activity which involves special treats or events each day during lunch/homeroom such as a grill-out, “recess,” ice cream sundaes etc. If you would like to be on a committee for senior week please let us know. Also during senior week, parents decorate their senior’s locker giving them an opportunity to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and anticipate the future of their young adult. As that time approaches we will keep you informed of dates and times the school will be available for you to come and decorate. So get your creative juices flowing and don’t miss special opportunities throughout the year to take pictures at various events!
Soon you will be purchasing caps, gowns, and announcements, however, if you find you need to order additional items for graduation, contact our Jostens’ representative, Jeff Tanner, at (513)561-3225. We also want you to know that we are supporting the guidance department, who does a tremendous job of meeting with your student and keeping him/her informed of scholarship possibilities, college fairs, as well as hosting various college reps throughout the year. They are diligent about passing information along to us where it gets read in homeroom and is posted on a bulletin board. Please partner with us encouraging your student to take advantage of posted scholarship opportunities paying particular attention to application deadlines. We’re sure you’ll agree that every little bit helps when it comes to paying for college!
We know this is a busy year for you and your student with a lot of life changing decisions to be made, however, we want to remind you to slow down and enjoy these next eight months with your senior! As you can see there are plenty of opportunities in which you can participate and be a part of your student’s senior year. If you would like an alternate email address used, please email us and let us know so we can update your information as future communications will be via email.
Please email me if you would like to organize or help with any of these senior events for this year.
Thank you for the opportunity of working with your senior. We have an awesome group of kids in the class of 2016!
