B.L.A.S.T. (Junior High)
This CCS after-school program (Belonging, Learning, And Serving Together) is designed specifically for junior high students. This is an especially great opportunity for students who are not currently involved in other extracurricular activities.
CCS works with Envision Partnerships, a local community agency which offers a teen development program as a free service to the community. Envision will facilitate the B.L.A.S.T. program for our 7th and 8th graders; however, a CCS teacher will be present at each meeting. The program focuses on developing traits identified by the Search Institute and is based on the 40 Developmental Assets for the healthy development of youth. Assets may focus on responsibility, peaceful conflict resolution, self-esteem, positive peer influence, service to others, and more. The program will primarily consist of FUN activities for students while developing leadership, friendship, and personal development skills. The idea is to offer something exclusively for the junior high students that centers on personal development and leaders. It is also an option and way for junior high students to 'plug-in' outside of athletics and theater.
B.L.A.S.T. begins April 12, 2018, meeting from 3:00-4:00 p.m., and will run each Thursday through May 17, room 104.
Each meeting will begin with a snack (A One-time cost of $3 helps to offset the cost of snacks.).
Students will receive a flyer. Check it out and consider whether this would be a beneficial activity for your student to attend. If your student does plan to attend, please have them email either Mrs. Edwards so that we can plan for the group size.
